Clear responsibilities, safer introductions.
These terms govern Irish Pets, an advertising marketplace operated by Alttech Ltd., Dublin, Ireland. Contact: [email protected]. Advertisers must be at least 18 and have authority to enter this agreement.
1. Irish Pets’ role
Irish Pets provides advertising, search, messaging, moderation and optional listing-promotion services. It does not own, breed, sell, examine, transport or deliver advertised pets and is not a party to a buyer–advertiser contract. Publication, promotion, moderation or a seller-review badge is not a guarantee of identity, ownership, health, pedigree, temperament, availability, suitability or the truth of every claim.
2. Advertiser responsibility
Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, legality and currency of every advertisement, photograph, message and representation; for lawful ownership of or authority to advertise the pet; and for all conduct connected with the sale or rehoming. Species, price, age, breed, location, health, pedigree and registration claims, seller status and material conditions must be accurate. Known health or welfare issues must not be concealed, and sold or unavailable listings must be removed promptly.
Advertisers are responsible for animal care, records, disclosures, taxes, licences, registrations, contracts, deposits, refunds, collection and delivery, and compliance with animal-welfare, advertising, consumer, intellectual-property, privacy and other law. Traders must identify themselves as traders and provide legally required business and consumer information. A person must not claim private-seller status to avoid applicable duties.
3. Irish dog advertisements
An Irish advertisement must include every legally required detail, including the dog’s microchip number and applicable seller or dog-breeding-establishment registration information. Dogs must not be advertised or supplied below the legal minimum age or in circumstances prohibited by law. Advertisers remain responsible for requirements applicable to their location and transaction.
4. Images only
A listing may contain no more than 10 still photographs. Only JPEG, PNG and WebP files are accepted, and each must be no larger than 5 MB (5,000,000 bytes). Video, audio, animated images, SVG, documents, executable files, embedded media and links intended to bypass these limits are prohibited.
Images must accurately depict the advertised pet or clearly identified parents. Advertisers must own them or have permission to publish them, including necessary permission concerning identifiable people. Misleading stock images, altered evidence, unlawful content and private information published without a lawful basis are prohibited.
Advertisers retain ownership and grant Irish Pets a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, resize, reproduce and display content as needed to provide and promote the advertisement. The licence ends when content is removed, subject to reasonable backups, legal retention duties and copies already lawfully shared. Irish Pets may remove metadata, resize images and reject unsafe or invalid files.
5. Prohibited use and moderation
Fraud, stolen animals, unlawful breeding or sales, cruelty, misleading claims, impersonation, harassment, discrimination, infringement, malicious uploads and attempts to evade moderation are prohibited. Irish Pets may request evidence, restrict, reject, hide or remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts for a breach, safety concern or legal requirement. Reasons and a review route will be provided where required by law. Urgent action may precede notice where necessary for safety or compliance.
6. Buyers and transactions
Buyers should verify identity and authority, meet and inspect the pet, check applicable microchip and registration records, review health documents and obtain independent veterinary advice where appropriate before paying. Buyers and advertisers agree sale, deposit, collection, delivery and refund arrangements directly. Irish Pets does not accept pet payments or deposits and does not provide escrow or veterinary advice. These precautions do not reduce statutory rights or excuse advertiser misconduct.
7. Advertising charges
The price, duration, taxes and scope of paid advertising or promotion will be shown before purchase. Payment does not guarantee enquiries or a sale and does not bypass moderation. Statutory cancellation, performance and refund rights apply where required; these terms do not impose a blanket no-refund rule.
8. Liability
Advertisers are responsible for claims, losses and disputes caused by their advertisements, misrepresentations, unlawful conduct, infringement, breach of these terms or performance of their sale agreements. To the extent permitted by law, Irish Pets is not liable for advertiser content or losses arising solely from a buyer–advertiser transaction for which it has no legal responsibility.
A business advertiser must reimburse Irish Pets for reasonable, evidenced third-party claim costs directly caused by its unlawful content, infringement or material breach. This excludes loss caused by Irish Pets’ own breach, negligence or misconduct. Irish Pets will give prompt notice, permit reasonable participation in the defence, mitigate loss and not agree a settlement charged to that advertiser without consent, not to be unreasonably withheld. This reimbursement obligation does not apply to a consumer advertiser.
Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including consumer rights, fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or statutory duties concerning privacy, online platforms and unlawful content. Irish Pets remains responsible for its own services where required by law. Nothing prevents a lawful complaint, court claim or regulatory report.
9. Accounts, privacy and complaints
Users must keep account information accurate and credentials secure and report suspected misuse. Personal data is handled under the Privacy Notice. Accepting these terms is not consent to optional marketing or non-essential cookies. Suspected fraud, unlawful content, infringement or an animal-welfare concern may be reported through the listing report function or to [email protected].
10. Changes and governing law
Material changes will be notified in advance where required and will not retrospectively remove accrued rights. Advertisers must accept the current version when submitting a listing. Irish law governs these terms without depriving consumers of mandatory protections in their country of habitual residence. A dispute may be brought before any court with lawful jurisdiction. If one provision is unenforceable, the remainder continues so far as legally possible.
